Southern Soul is a style of popular music developed by Black Americans, combining elements of gospel music, Blues, and R&B, and it is derived from or pertains to the south, such as the southern parts of Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana, and in southeastern Texas. Distinctive for its earthy expressiveness, variously plaintive or raucous vocals, deeply felt emotion and often passionate romanticism or sensuality.
